Meet Tamim Khan: The New Owner of Astra Apartments Southbank
We’re excited to introduce Tamim Khan as the new owner of Astra Apartments Southbank – marking an exciting new chapter for our Southbank location.
With more than a decade of experience across Melbourne’s property sector, Tamim brings a strong background in tenancy management and customer service leadership. Now, he steps into Astra Southbank with a clear vision: to expand on the strong foundation already in place and continue elevating the experience for extended stay corporate travellers.
We sat down with Tamim to learn more about his journey, what drew him to Astra, and what occupants and corporate clients can expect moving forward.
Tell us a little about your background.
I’ve spent over a decade working in the Melbourne property sector, and throughout this time I developed a strong interest in the operational and commercial side. That’s what led me into business ownership.
For me, stepping into Astra Apartments Southbank is about combining professional property expertise with entrepreneurial drive to own and build something long-term and high quality.
What drew you to Astra Apartments and this particular location?
Astra stood out because of its structured systems, strong brand presence and focus on professional long-stay accommodation rather than informal and leisure based short-stay management. The compliance standards, operational processes and brand consistency really appealed to me.
Southbank itself is one of Melbourne’s most dynamic precincts – close to corporate offices, Crown, the Arts Centre, South Melbourne Market and the CBD. It attracts corporate travellers, families, medical visitors and long-stay guests. I saw strong growth potential here and the opportunity to scale.
What excites you most about running Southbank?
I’m fortunate that we already have a strong foundation in place. What excites me most is the opportunity to elevate the corporate bookers and travellers experience while growing the portfolio responsibly. My focus is on maintaining exceptional presentation standards, delivering consistent hotel-level personalised service, building long-term stakeholder relationships and on the back of all this, confidently expanding the number of corporate apartments.
I enjoy building systems, refining operations and improving small details that make a big difference to client satisfaction.
What can corporate travel bookers and partners expect under your leadership?
Consistency, professionalism and clear communication.
What’s something people might not know about you?
I’m passionate about music production – I write and produce music in my home studio in my spare time. It’s my creative outlet outside of business.
I’m also quite particular about making café-style coffee. Even though I’m not a regular coffee drinker, I genuinely enjoy getting the grind, texture and presentation just right, especially when I’m making it for others.
And most importantly, I’m a proud new father. My son Rayel was born recently, and stepping into business ownership at the same time has made this chapter of life even more meaningful and motivating.
